Postdoctoral position available

I have a postdoctoral position available in my laboratory for someone interested in acquiring undergraduate teaching and research mentoring experience while doing research in the area of Tetrahymena chromatin biology. My lab is in the Joint Science Department of the Claremont Colleges in Southern California, and the position is available starting April, 2009. TEACHING POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

 
Title:  Teaching Postdoctoral Fellow
 
Where: Joint Science Department of the Claremont Colleges, Claremont, CA
 
Subject Areas: Molecular biology, chromatin biology
 
Duration: 2 years, negotiable
 
Start date: April, 2009; negotiable
 
Description:  The successful candidate will carry out research related to the identification an d characterization of proteins involved in chromatin structure dynamics using the ciliate model Tetrahymena thermophila.  Other responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate research projects and developing/teaching courses in the general areas of molecular/cell biology, genetics, or biochemistry. Courses in other areas would also be possible. The teaching load is negotiable, but can vary between one half course and two courses per year depending on interest. Leadership in a collaborative undergraduate research initiative is also possible.
 
The Claremont Colleges are a consortium of adjacent highly selective undergraduate liberal arts colleges. The campuses, which include Scripps, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Harvey-Mudd, and Pomona Colleges, are located east of Los Angeles in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, close to Cal-Tech and a short dri ve from other state universities including UCLA, USC, and UC Irvine.
 

The Joint Science Department of the Scripps, Claremont McKenna, and Pitzer Colleges is an interdisciplinary department of 30+ faculty representing Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. The department is housed in a modern well-equipped facility, and has external funding from NSF, NIH, and a number of private foundations. See the W.M.
