Post-doc Fellowship (M/F)

We are looking for a Post-doctoral fellow to carry out an investigation on cell lines using advanced
molecular spectroscopies and bioimaging techniques.

Requirements

Candidates should have a solid biological background, and a strong motivation to explore new
methodologies in the areas of nanomedicine and genetics and to participate in a multidisciplinary project.
Work plan and objectives

The work program of the successful candidate will include the use of advanced molecular spectroscopies
and bioimaging techniques to investigate biochemical alterations in membrane receptors induced by gene
mutations, biological microenvironment and cell-cell interactions. The investigation will focus mainly on
cancer cells and will be carried out in the NEWTherapies group of the Biomaterials division of INEB, in
close collaboration with IPATIMUP.

The grant will follow the institutional rules

. The fellowship will have the duration of 12 months and it is
expected to start on 1st May 2010. To further extend this period it is planned to submit a proposal for a
Post-doc grant to FCT – Portuguese Research Agency. Payment will be done monthly, preferably by bank
transfer and according to the amounts of FCT grants (€ 1495).
The applicants should submit an application containing: (i) an application form (available at www.ineb.up.pt
> positions available), (ii) a motivation letter, (iii) one letter of recommendation, (iv) a detailed CV.
Candidates will be evaluated and pre-selected based on the submitted documents. If necessary, the preselected
group of candidates will be contacted regarding the final selection process.
In the letter of motivation candidates should indicate the importance of their publications to the
advancement of science, past experience at the national and international level, and how they envisage to
contribute to the objectives of INEB and IPATIMUP (please refer to the web pages of INEB and IPATIMUP
for the main areas of investigation of these institutes).
