BioInformatics Officer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated BioInformatics Officer to support microarray and high-throughput screening based projects within the Breakthrough Centre. The post holder will provide high throughput basic analyses and reporting, using publicly available packages and commercial software. The recent acquisition of an Illumina Genome Analyser by the Centre will also allow the applicant to gain experience in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data.
The successful applicant should have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, a post-graduate qualification in bioinformatics and scripting experience in R, S-plus or Perl. Experience in microarray data analysis, data processing from different array platforms. Experience in the annotation of microarray features, genome architecture and the analysis of high-throughput cell-based screens is also essential.

The starting salary will be in the range £39,143 - £43,749 p.a. inclusive and the position will be offered initially on a fixed-term contract to July 2010.
