THE BREAKTHROUGH TOBY ROBINS BREAST CANCER RESEARCH CENTRE
AT THE INSTITUTE OF CANCER RESEARCH, CHELSEA, LONDON

The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research. Our goal is to advance research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. We are located in new laboratory space with excellent core facilities and funding. We currently have a number of vacancies in the Centre, headed by Professor Alan Ashworth, FRS.

BioInformatics Officer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated BioInformatics Officer to support microarray, high-throughput screening and Next Generation Sequencing based projects within the Breakthrough Centre. The successful post holder will provide high throughput basic analyses and reporting, using publicly available packages and commercial software to facilitate the prompt and efficient transfer of data into scientific publications.
Experience in microarray data analysis and the publication of micro-array datasets is essential as is data processing from different array platforms, the annotation of microarray features, genome architecture and the analysis of high-throughput cell-based screens.
Applicants should hold a first degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, have scripting experience in R, S-plus or Perl and a post-graduate qualification in BioInformatics. Knowledge of cancer biology is essential and preference will be given to candidates with post-graduate laboratory-based experience in molecular biology.
The starting salary will be in the range £39,143 - £43,749 p.a. inclusive and the position will be offered initially on a fixed-term contract to July 2010.
