Application to a Research Fellowship Position (PPCDT/DG/BIA/82010/2006 )

The application to a Research Fellowship is open under the Project PPCDT/DG/BIA/82010/2006, called   “Quorum Sensing in Escherichia coli” financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.

1. Duration: The Fellowship will have the duration of 6 months, starting on 15.09.2008, in exclusiveness regime, as regulated by the human resources of FCT (http://www.fct.mctes.pt/pt/apoios/formacao/ambitoprojectos) and fellowships regulation of Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (http://www.igc.gulbenkian.pt).

2. Subject of Activities: Study of the molecular mechanisms involved in interference with interspecies bacterial communication mediated by quorum sensing systems.

3. Scientific Orientation: Bacterial Signalling Group – Karina B. Xavier.

4. Selecting Criteria: Degree in Biology or related areas. Laboratory experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and/or Molecular Genetics. Preference will be given to candidates with training in microbiology.

5. Month Stipend: According the regulations of the FCT Scientific Fellowships in Portugal (€745.00/month + SSV).
