The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research. Our goal is to advance research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. We are located in new laboratory space with excellent core facilities and funding. We currently have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Training Fellow in a joint project involving our Molecular Pathology Laboratory, led by Dr Jorge Reis-Filho, and our Gene Function Laboratory, led by Professor Alan Ashworth.
Postdoctoral Training Fellow
The objective of this post will be to understand the function of genes amplified in breast cancer using a combination of microarray-based comparative genomic hybridisation, microarray expression profiling and high throughput RNA interference screens. This work will be used to design novel prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic agents.
Applicants should possess a PhD in molecular biology or cell biology, ideally with a focus on the performance of high-throughput RNAi screens. Knowledge of cell culture techniques is essential, together with excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of microarray data analysis is desirable. The successful candidate will be encouraged to present data at joint meetings, international conferences and in peer reviewed journals.
Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for up to 3 years in the first instance, with a starting salary in the range £29,256 - £30,403 p.a. inclusive.
