Science 2008
In compliance with the Portuguese Governmental initiative "Ciência 2008" (Science 2008) the Centre for Macaronesian Studies (CEM) of the University of Madeira announces the opening of an international call for applications for 2 PhD research positions, to be contracted under the individual employment contract regime.
Candidates to be hired, whether they are Portuguese or foreign nationals, must have at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral experience and scientific production.
Positions
Specific calls for applications are open under the following areas:
• Position 01/CC08/CEM
Molecular Biologist with experience in molecular biology or biotechnology applied to the evaluation and improvement, or analysis of the genetic background of plant resources.
• Position 02/CC08/CEM
Biostatistian: biologist with experience and competence in application of statistical methods for treatment and publication of data obtained by different groups of researchers (CEM).

Applications must be submitted in English and have to include the following documents:
Cover letter presenting past and future scientific interests
Detailed Curriculum vitae (with publications list)
At least two recommendation letters (including contact information)
Candidates must refer to which post they are applying.
